Laneway Infiltration Trench (LIT): Harriet Laneway has an impervious area of 680 m2 which is managed by an infiltration trench with a footprint of 50 m2.  From geotechnical investigations, two boreholes were completed at this site and saturated hydraulic conductivity tests were performed using a Guelph Permeameter.  Borehole 1 located at the south end of the practice had a soil type of SILT, sandy to some sand to SAND and SILT with some trace gravel and clay at 1.0 meter below ground surface. Ksat value was 3.4 mm/hr. Borehole 2 located at the north end of the practice consisted of SILT and SAND with some to traces of clay and gravel (till-like) and had Ksat values that ranged between 3.0 x 10-2 and 3.4 x 10-2 mm/hr. Another infiltration test performed when the trench was freshly dug found an KSat of 0.14 mm/hr. The system was designed with an infiltration rate of 6 mm/hr.The soil conditions were also indicative of seasonally variable groundwater conditions.
