Dry well (DW): A dry well was installed at Haro & Bidwell that received runoff from a catchbasin for a 368m2 of impervious area in a dense residential neighbourhood. The dry well is a 1.5-m deep 600-mm diameter PVC chamber with perforations every 15 cm surrounded on all sides by 0.3 m of granular material. The active storage volume is 1.1 m3.  From geotechnical investigations, the soil type at 1.2 m below ground surface was coarse sand with trace to some silt and trace gravel with Ksat average of 504 mm/hr. The dry well was designed with an infiltration rate of 47 mm/hr. A till-like lens was observed at 1.3 m bgs, and the geotechnical engineer noted that this may indicate perched groundwater.
