Waterharmonica Texel

Pond (Retention pond)

Created at: 26 Sep 2017

Description

In the summertime it doesn’t rain very often in Texel, this is because the heat evaporates a lot of water. This results in a shortage of freshwater for agriculture. The HHNK came up with a solution, this solution implies that the drinking water that gets into the sewage is being purified and reused to maintain groundwater. On Texel there where 3 steps of water purification at first, this now has been returned to one major location in the Koog.

The wastewater will be cleaned step by step at the new RWZI. It will enter at the harkrooster building and then passes along the selector, the aeration pool and the settling pond basin.

After these steps, the purified water will be transferred thru the ditch (red) to the adjacent water (green). In this water there are water fleas that remove the remaining swollen parts from the sewage water. After this process, the sewage will passed through a helophyte filter that extracts different sewage enzyme from the sewage (yellow). The final process (blue) ensures that the water is re-purified by water plants. The baffles in the water ensure that the water is begin slowed down so that it can be cleaned as long as possible. After this process, the water will flow into the surrounding water for the agriculture. 8 million liters of water will be cleaned each day.
