Water Square John Lennonstraat Nijmegen (2007)

Watersquare

Created at: 07 Mar 2018

Description

The watersystem for the VINEX location Waalsprong is documented in the WIW 2009 (see appendix). With this framework in mind a more detailed design is made for each development site. The watersquare John Lennonstraat is part of the developement Visveld/Laawik. The Water Square is twinned with the big swale in the Beatlestraat. The water square primarily collects rainwater from the surrounding roofs and paved area and transports in to the swale. But when the swale is overloaded it is possible that it starts filling the water square or blocks the discharge tot the swale. Between 2007 and 2018 this never actually happened. Most likely due to the improvement of the swale by a drainagelayer, added drain and improvement of the toplayer by a high infiltrationrate soil.
