Description

The case study of 'the artificial surf reef impacts at Mount Maunganui' tends to reveal that Mount Maunganui is the city here in Aotearoa that, for years has always had multiple benefits within their economy proposed from their high numbers of surf and tourism culture each year. Unfortunately, even though a permit was enforced, this artificial reef did not propose "world-class surf-able waves" as a local surfer suggested but instead became a complete flop. The Mount Reef became deemed as unsafe as it started causing shorter and sharper waves, as well rips within the currents causing not just the locals, but parents of younger children to address to surf living that it needed to become addressed forward towards the reef council as this reef could become deemed to be very unsafe for future surf breaks. The evidence from how it worked on the site, towards the issues that evolved in terms of safety and financial situations for the Reef Council, did provide outcomes of growth and true understanding towards proving how important it is towards understanding your overall site upon implementation of your artificial reef. More importantly, even though individuals who are passionate about their marine sport of surfing and Tauranga's overall tourism may have suffered that year, an increase in ecological fish species, as well as living coral, adapted to this artificial reef instead. Subsequently revealing the outcome of even very minimal academic research artificial reef can still propose the overall restoration of marine life and in turn can become used more so for research purposes. Proving thus the views of the overall waterways and what was below our feet improved in overall quality, which resulted in Mount Maunganui being still a surf beach, but for those who are more experienced and can pinpoint where the breaks are within the shorelines.
