Group 3 - Discharge

Problem Area - Rainwater Nuisance

Created at: 15 Nov 2018

Description

Velocity

To calculate the discharge there has been a manual test done. By measuring 3 m and throwing in the same objects the meters could be cross referenced against the time to figure out the speed of the water.

Cross sectional area

To be able to use the velocity for the discharge the cross sectional are has to be measured. After concluding that the riverbed was close to a square form the A could be easily found.

Calculation

November 13 2018 Velocity 1 = 0,156 m/s A = l b Q = A v Velocity 2 = 0,175 m/s A = 0,37 10 Q = 3,7 0,170 Velocity 3 = 0,191 m/s A = 3,7 m2 Q = 0,63 m3/s Velocity 4 = 0,160 m/s
Velocity 5 = 0,170 m/s
Average velocity = 0,0170 m/s
