Characteristic of Koolhoven-Buiten is "living in nature": the robust and lush Don Valley and the partly existing forest areas. The layout of the built-up area is sleek, in contrast to the lush landscape. The transition from forest to built-up areas along the Boslanen deserves attention and carefulness. Buildings must keep a distance from the trees in the existing forest area. Within the contours of the landscape, nature has free rein. A luscious natural vegetation will soon arise naturally here. In this way arises a green area in absolute proximity to the houses, which invites you to recreate, play and be outside in nature.

Kenmerkend voor Koolhoven-Buiten is “wonen in de natuur”: de robuuste en weelderige Dongevallei en de, deels al bestaande, bosgebieden. De inrichting van het bebouwd gebied is, in contrast met het weelderige landschap, strak. De overgang van bos naar het bebouwd gebied langs de Boslanen, verdient aandacht en zorgvuldigheid. Er moet met bebouwing afstand worden gehouden tot de bomen in het bestaande bosgebied. Binnen de contouren van het landschap heeft de natuur vrij spel. Een weelderige natuurlijke begroeiing zal hier al snel als vanzelf ontstaan. Op deze manier ontstaat in absolute nabijheid van de woningen een groengebied, dat uitnodigt om te recreëren, te spelen en buiten in de natuur te zijn.
