Plants and animals are allowed to settle and develop on this site, undisturbed by humans.
The shallow water zones offer amphibians (frogs, toads, newts) and water fowl very good living conditions. The bluffs serve as breeding grounds for Sand Martins and Kingfishers.
The bay is looked after by the nature conservation association DBV.
The 'Quendorfer See' is also used as bathing water with a sand beach. Swimmers are not allowed outside the designated waters.
