Een wadi is een laagte waarin het regenwater zich kan verzamelen en in de bodem kan infiltreren. Meestal is een wadi beplant met gras of biezen. Een wadi helpt verdroging van de bodem tegen te gaan, vormt een buffer bij overvloedige regenval, en draagt bij aan de zuivering van het water
